US golfer Bryson DeChambeau registered his second major title this year, winning the 2024 US Open. He also came close at the 2024 PGA Championship, but eventually lost to Xander Schauffele by a small margin.
DeChambeau will next be seen at the LIV Golf Individual Championship at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently ranked 9th in the standings. At a press conference recently, he talked about what he is focusing on right now. And it is not how much “distance” he is hitting.
“I don’t chase distance anymore. I just try to maintain where I am at. If I am at 190 to 195 ball speed on the golf course, like I was earlier in the majors this year, that’s where I want to be.”
‘The Scientist’ added when he might look to push himself to hit farther.
“If technology gets to a place where it proves that we can get to 200, 205 with the driver going dead straight, then yeah. I will try to make a bit of a push for that as long as it doesn’t mess up my golf game.”
The 30-year-old further said:
“I am not here to change my golf game whatsoever anymore. I want to do as best as I can in LIV and win as many majors as possible.”
Bryson DeChambeau is the captain of LIV Golf team Crushers GC. His team is currently at the top of the leaderboard. Following the Individual Championship, LIV Golf will pull the curtains on its 2024 season with the Team Championship in Dallas.

LIV Golf and the PGA Tour have been locking horns ever since the former’s inception in 2022. With the Framework Agreement talks ongoing and the PGA Tour officials holding meetings with PIF, an exciting new development has arisen from the rivalry.
The top golfers in the world right now are divided into these two tours. They are only seen competing together at the major championships. However, now Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka from LIV Golf will play against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler from the PGA Tour under one roof in a made-for-TV golf match later this year.
The four stars will be taking part in a special exhibition golf match. It is believed that while the players will take an appearance fee, they will not be competing for a cash prize.
The event will take place mid-December in Las Vegas and will be aired on TNT. The channel has previously broadcasted nine editions of The Match.
Bryson DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff said, according to Golfweek:
“Bryson looks forward to competing in Las Vegas this December in an event that is sure to provide great entertainment for the fans.”
DeChambeau himself said via Sports Illustrated:
“We always wanted to have a PGA Tour and LIV sort of battle a couple years ago. We always thought that would be pretty cool and what not.”
Certainly, golf fans round the globe will be at the edge of their seats for this iconic face-off.
