The newly minted LIV Golf individual champion won’t just be pocketing a hefty cash prize but will also receive a dazzling championship ring studded with gems and built-in cutting-edge technology.

Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann are gearing up to battle it out for the Saudi-backed Tour’s top individual honour this Friday at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Whoever comes out on top isn’t only going home $14 million richer but will also flaunt a luxurious ring.

Crafted with 5.78 carats of pristine white diamonds, 1.2 carats of vivid natural green emeralds and weighing in at 84.8 grams, this 14-carat gold statement piece boasts an embedded QR code. This digital addition enables the champ to relive their moment of glory by scanning it to replay the winning LIV Golf moment.

This exquisite ring bears a resemblance to the iconic rings bestowed upon NBA, NFL, and MLB victors. Rahm, who reportedly defected from the PGA Tour last year in exchange for a colossal $525.4 million, expressed his anticipation: “I’m trying to picture what it looks like right now, and I can’t get that in my mind,” he said.

“It’s a lot. It’s definitely a lot. But honestly, who cares what it is as long as you’re the one that has it? That’s, I think, what most of us will be thinking. I think you would be lying to yourself if you said there’s nothing extra. We’re all aware it’s the last event, and for the two of us, obviously, we both want to win.”

The thrill of the competition isn’t lost on Rahm, who continued: “I also believe that being able to be in this position and having those extra nerves is a privilege. We’re the only two in the entire league that are going to be feeling like that this week, so yeah, you have to embrace it and compete and still try to win but knowing there’s a lot more at stake if that doesn’t happen.”

Challenger Niemann let slip with a chuckle that his wife may not approve of him wearing a greater display of bling than her. He quipped: “Probably my wife won’t be happy knowing that my ring would have more [diamonds]. No, I feel it’s pretty special. It’s a little different than other trophies, so it would be pretty cool to have an extra ring.”

Ahead by nearly three points, Spanish talent Rahm leads, while Niemann is on the hunt to narrow the gap. A remarkable season has put Rahm ahead, placing top 10 in every tournament, complimented by a solo victory. This win was a significant turnaround after initially facing adjustment challenges.

Rahm’s success story continued as he seized the cup at LIV Golf UK by JCB in July. In addition to his personal triumph, he propelled Legion XIII to their fourth team win of the year at the same competition, albeit at the cost of fellow teammate Tyrrell Hatton.

When Hatton’s putt missed its mark, Rahm shared his mixed emotions: “Obviously, you always want to win,” Rahm admitted post-victory, his first since the glory at the 2023 Masters. “Selfishly you always want to get that done. But you don’t want to see a teammate and a good friend missing a putt for that to happen for me.”
