It was the second day of play. And Scottie Scheffler had turned many heads back then with his X-rated tantrum following his shot past the flagstick at the par-4, 10th. Many disagreed with the golfer’s reaction with some even dubbing him a “spoiled country club brat.” However, a day later, the athlete seems to have found support in fellow American and Olympic teammate, Xander Schauffele.
The 30-year-old golfer was spotted mentioning the same in an interview following the second round of the 2024 BMW Championship on Saturday. A reporter asked him if he was feeling just like how Scheffler was on Friday at the 10th hole. His response? A resounding “Yeah,” he said as he expressed his annoyance at his own misery of playing at a high altitude.

“It is frustrating playing at altitude,” confessed the 2024 PGA Championship winner before recounting his experience back in Vegas when he first moved there, “It’s only 5 percent where I was playing up in Summerlin.” Adding on, the pro then revealed how 3,000 feet was the highest point back then in Nevada. Interestingly enough, the golfers are now teeing it up at Castle Pines Golf Club whose first tee is approximately 6,400 feet above sea level. Truly a stark difference, isn’t it?

Did Scottie Scheffler’s temper tantrum make you feel his pain? React!
Schauffele also recounted the conversation he had with fellow PGA Tour Pros Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama about the issue. He said, “I would ask them all the time how to handle altitude because I would hit a flush wedge shot and it would be like 45 feet over the flag or short, and it would be so frustrating.” And he seems to be experiencing the same problem, if not worse, at the venue where the 2024 BMW Championship is being held.
“A little bit of that feeling this week, as well,” admitted Xander Schauffele before alluding to many in the field including Scottie Scheffler, “I know I’m not the only one where guys are flagging shots and it’s plugging in a bunker over a green or coming up well short. It’s a little bit of that altitude deal.” Well, it appears the 2024 Open Championship winner truly seems to have understood fellow American and the current No. 1 golfer in the world for his angry reaction!
Scottie Scheffler’s X-rated tantrum that Xander Schauffele approved of
The 2024 Masters champ had teed off his shot into the rough at the par-4, 10th hole on the second round of play at Castle Pines Golf Club. Following the drive, Scheffler went ahead to mishit his approach badly. The result? It went straight into the water beside the greens. That’s not all. The drop shot that followed saw the professional hit it straight beyond the greens and past the flagstick that marks the hole.
“How?” responded a frustrated Scheffler. The incredulity on his face was soon expressed through his mouth as the athlete swore on the greens before pointing out, “What the F**k!! That’s impossible!” His misfortune didn’t end there as he scored a double bogey on the 10th hole, causing him to register an even par score on Friday. And now, the 2-time major champ has gone down the leaderboard yet again after Saturday to find himself T35, as opposed to Xander Schauffele, who is placed at T5. Will the former be able to dish out a miracle and aim for the win? Seems unlikely now!
