Keegan Bradley was named the new US Ryder Cup team captain earlier this week. The decision, which shocked a few, seems to be sitting well with LIV Golfers. After Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau has now come out to welcome the 38-year-old PGA Tour star to his new role.
DeChambeau claimed that he is “excited” for Bradley. The reigning US Open champion noted that the new skipper will be able to relate to the “younger generation” of players because of his age. The LIV star’s remark came as a commentary on the former Ryder Cup captains and their age.
The 30-year-old claimed that the new skipper will have “some relatability” to the players as he is still playing and not retired like some past captains. The two-time major champion also applauded Bradley’s comment on picking the “best players” for his side without being bothered about their preferred league.
Speaking about Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup captaincy pick at the LIV Golf Andalucia press conference, Bryson DeChambeau said (at 9:39):
“I’m excited for him. I think it’s a great opportunity for him, especially as it relates to younger players. He’s going to see that younger threshold and obviously relate to them a lot more; I would say because of his age. He’s seen the younger generation’s games.
He’s still out there, he’s still playing, he’s still competing. So, it’s great to have some relatability there. As it comes to picking the best players, I think that’s the right approach. And I couldn’t be more happy for him as the captain.”
For the unversed, DeChambeau was one of the LIV golfers overlooked by Zach Johnson while picking the US side for the competition in Rome last year. The then 47-year-old received criticism for having partiality towards PGA Tour players. LIV players seem to be accepting of Bradley as he is close to several names on the Saudi-backed circuit.

Bradley revealed that he wouldn’t shy away from selecting LIV Golfers on his 2025 Ryder Cup team. The golfer, speaking at a press conference to introduce him as the US captain, said that he ‘doesn’t care’ about where his teammates play. The PGA golfer noted that his team will have “the 12 best players.”
Keegan Bradley said on Tuesday:
“I’m going to have the 12 best players on the team. I don’t care what, where they play. We have a mission to win this tournament. I’m not worried about the LIV stuff. I want the best players on the team.”
Bradley also addressed the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf during the presser. The new skipper stated that he has ‘no clue how the layout of the golf world’s going to be’ by 2025 when the Ryder Cup is played.
Despite the uncertainty, the 2011 PGA Championship winner reiterated that his “biggest concern” will be having the “best players on the team.”
