Xander Schauffele defends team US after Tom Kim’s ‘cursing’ accusations – “I’m not sure what he was hearing”

Xander Schauffele defended Team USA after Tom Kim accused it of “cursing at” International team players during the third round of the 2024 Presidents Cup. On Saturday, September 28, in the afternoon foursome match, Kim paired up with Si Woo Kim to play against Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The game resulted in Team USA winning.

However, Tom Kim said the American players had cursed at his team during a press conference following the round. He said (via Macra):

“As it got towards the end, it got a little feisty out there. I could hear some players cursing at us. That part wasn’t really… I don’t think there was good sportsmanship there.”

Later, Schauffele opened up about the incident in the press conference and said:

“I mean, I can speak for myself. I felt like Pat and I, we treated the Kims with the utmost respect. We’re trying to quiet the crowds down when they were hitting. I have no clue if anyone was doing any of that. I don’t believe any of our guys would do something like that. So I’m not sure what he was hearing.”

The 2024 Presidents Cup successfully concluded with its three rounds. It will have its finale on Sunday, September 29.
