“It was really brutal” – BMW Championship leader Keegan Bradley says qualifying as the last man was ‘one of the toughest’ afternoons of his career

US golfer Keegan Bradley, who is leading the BMW Championship after the first round, was the 50th player to qualify for the top 50 in Castle Pines last Sunday. His score was 1-over and he landed at T59 on the FedEx St. Jude Championship leaderboard. With that, he also received 20 FedEx points.

The top 50 players from the St. Jude Championship qualify for the BMW Championship and Keegan Bradley ultimately qualified as the last man. The 38-year-old later said it was one of the toughest days for him.

Talking about the experience, Bradley was candid in a press conference at Castle Pines on Thursday, August 22.

“Sunday afternoon was one of the toughest afternoons of my PGA TOUR career. It was really brutal. It’s such a relief to be here. I just felt a lot calmer today… I was in my room. I had the FedExCup standings, the coverage on, the featured holes, my phone. I had it all going. But it was tough. But glad that it worked out,” Keegan Bradley said (via ASAP Sports).
“The top 50 is one of our most important numbers for us as players to be playing in these big tournaments and FedExCup points. I want to be out there with the guys and the Ryder Cup team. I want to be playing with them, on the range with them, in the locker room, in the tournament. It was really important for me to be in this top 50.”

Later in the interaction, Bradley was asked whether he’d compete to be within the top 30 this week for the Tour Championship, to which he responded positively. He was also asked how he felt if he finished 51st last week. He said he’d better hang out with his boys!

Currently, Bradley is sitting atop the leaderboard at the BMW Championship with a score of 6-under 66. He shot six birdies on holes 1, 2, 8, 13, 14 and 18. He had no bogey in the round.
